Got my Single Lens Reflex (SLR) film camera with a 50mm lens in 1983. What I love about shooting with film is the feeling I get when I know I have taken a great shot and
can’t wait to see the picture and others after the film is developed. Later, I started to document the details such as shutter speed, aperture and lighting conditions so I can compare the pictures
and continue to learn. It has turned into a hobby and find it therapeutic.
This picture is from my Mom’s garden in my early days of photography. After a summer rain, was intrigued by the rain drops and took a few pictures with slow shutter speeds. I used the photo tip of holding my breath before pressing the shutter release. I felt this was the best. Well, I entered it in a local photo contest and came second, and Malak Karsh – a famous Ottawa photographer – was the judge. Prize was a book of his of pictures of the Gatineau hills.
Be Strong and Don’t let it get away.
